From Our Founder

Congrats to our moms and heartfelt thanks for all that you do to make our dreams come true.

My mom is a saint.  She truly is.  She brought 10 of us into this world and bestowed upon each of us an appreciation for the gift of life.

I reflect on my upbringing and am still amazed by her feat of shepherding us to adulthood while providing a quality of life that to this very day is something I cherish.  Bearing 10 children is certainly Herculean, but to have the energy, the creativity, the drive, the faith to make each of us feel necessary, wanted, appreciated and loved is something for which I will be eternally grateful.

Lynnette and I have our hands full with four children; I simply cannot imagine how my mom did it with 10.

We grew up in a modest tri-level home of no more than 1800 square feet with 5 girls in one bedroom, 5 boys in the other, one drawer each for personal clothes, a couple of inches in the closet and the first bed available at night.  While dad worked his butt off to provide for us, mom was the glue that kept our family fruitful, focused and faithful.  Mom did not talk to us about loving; she demonstrated it to us by example each and every day.  And while she was often caught barking orders to the oven or refrigerator; she offered kind, thoughtful counsel in formative matters that each of us fashioned into effective tools which help us manage our lives and serve to instill values in the 30+ grandchildren of Wichlinski blood.

I learned that life is a challenge, not a chore from my mom.  I learned that if I was not growing, I was dying…and that serves as personal inspiration even today.  From my mom I learned the power of respectful debate and the responsibility to make the world a better place.  Mom taught us all to “leave the place cleaner than you found it” and I challenge myself to do just that, every day.

Mom never attended college, but is one of the brightest people I know.  In the wee hours of every morning you’d find her dozing in a chair at our kitchen table hunched over a newspaper, or a book, or some manuscript she simply did not have the energy to complete reading.  Readers are leaders and my mom is an avid reader and she instilled in us that same appreciation for the written word.

Mom carted us to ball games, or music lessons, or play practice, or Burnham golf course, or OLOK, or BNI, or Lan Oak pool.  She encouraged us to mow lawns, spin pizzas, shovel walks, paint walls… anything to become financially responsible and self-reliant.  I can safely say that while my dad taught me how to be an entrepreneur, my mom inspired me to become one.

She is an amazing person.  And I am certain each of you have personal memories of your mom that mirror mine.

So to you Laura, mom… thanks having me, thanks for holding me, thanks for believing in me.  I am proud to be you son.  I hope that I am always deserving of the life that you have given me.

Your Loving Son,

Bobby
