From Our Founder
by Robert J. Wichlinski 2005 was wrought with disasters, indecision, frustrations, extremes and surprises. My wish for 2006 is that we are blest with calmer waters. I appreciate excitement and variety as much as the next guy, but 2005 was a roller coaster ride I will not soon miss. Just when you thought you’d endured the worst, another challenge was right around the bend. I’m hoping for more certainty and less confusion. In 2006 I am looking forward to (and this is in no particular order): 1.) local elections, 2.) regional economic development (what will the RDA do with the dollars?), 3.) a grand anniversary celebration in Gary, 4.) the Sox attempt to repeat and the Cubs attempt to compete with their cousins, 5.) da Bears return to greatness (we are oh so close), 6.) four full seasons, temperate climate, and good crops, 7.) a summer family vacation (FINALLY), 8.) great County Fairs and local festivals, 9.) direction in Iraq and better definition of our War on Terror, 10.) the new Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank and low interest rates, 11.) stable, reliable energy rates, 12.) good health and personal fitness, 13.) examples of kindness and gratitude…. 14.) And, of course…. world peace (smile). I am certain more will emerge, but these are the first to come to mind… and the ones I’ll be looking for. Perhaps this is a good time for you to reflect upon what you hope to discover in the coming year. It’s impossible to find what you’re not looking for.
